About
My name is Nicholas Chicirda, AKA Nick Chic. People have called me Nick Chic since I have been in grade school. My name is unique and both a blessing and a curse. When I tell people that my last name is Chicirda nine times out of ten I get the same dumb response: “Like Chiquita Banana?” (Although in more recent times it was often substituted with “Like Shakira?”) After a while I gave up telling people, “No its not at all like that, its pronounced CHICK EAR DUH!” In order to avoid the great banana annoyance I would tell people my name was Nick Chic. To that people would reply, “Oh, like a girl?” On top of that, you would not believe the amount of dirty words that rhyme with Nick and Chic; grade school children can be so mean. On the bright side my nickname is very memorable, and just plain cool. So when I was faced with the challenge of making my on portfolio and essentially branding myself, I went for my name for inspiration. In the end this is what I used for my site:

However, my first version included a picture navigation which included variations of the Chic. Each one corresponded with a page on my website:

I had such a great time doing making all the Chic variations that I decided to run with it. That’s where Pulp Chiction comes in. I will use this blog to showcase all my Chic drawings that I made and will continue to make. Hopefully you will enjoy looking at them as much as I do making them. My goal is to make at least a couple of posts a week, in an attempt to keep my creative juices flowing. I won’t limit myself entirely to Chics, I plan on posting my thoughts, some fun links, and other design work I may do.
